Posted: May 6, 2014 - 10:37am

When Mayflower's baseball team takes on Vilonia Tuesday night at Dickey-Stephens Park in North Little Rock, it will receive donations for the tornado damaged communities.

Monday night, the Eagles got some hardware.

In running their record to 23-2, Mayflower won the 3A-5 baseball title with a 2-1 victory over Episcopal Collegiate at Benton Harmony Grove.

It was the second straight district title for the Eagles, whose 29-3 season ended last year in the semifinals of the 3A state tournament.

Mayflower senior Garrett Taylor and freshman Davis Gaffney, who both lost their homes in the tornado last week, accecpted the conference and district tournament championship trophies for the Eagles.

More about the game and Mayflower baseball in Tuesday's print edition of the Log Cabin Democrat.
