Faulkner basketball roundup: Vilonia girls continue surge; Greenbrier stuns Eagle boys

Senior Night at Vilonia was met with mixed emotions and results in a rivalry matchup with Greenbrier.


The Lady Eagles (24-3, 13-1) continued a surge toward the top among 5A girls teams with a 50-42 victory over the Lady Panthers (14-12, 7-6).

The Greebnrier boys (13-13, 5-8) may have knocked the Vilonia boys (12-12, 6-7) out of a state tournament berth with a 71-54 victory.

Hannah Schenbelen and McKenzie Morris scored 12 points each for the Lady Eagles. Kory Westerman had 22 points and Ali Skudlark 12 for the Lady Panthers.

Vilonia entered the game a game behind Alma and Harrison, who were tied for third in 5A-West.

Tyler Simmons led the inspired Panther effort with 32 points. Dustin Tims added 17.

Cameron Wilkins scored 22 for Vilonia.


Conway teams celebrated Senior Night at Buzz Bolding Arena with dominating, mercy rule victories over Little Rock Catholic and Mount St. Mary.

The Wampus Cats (14-9, 6-7) clinched a state tournament berth with a 67-31 romp over the Rockets (4-15, 3-10).

Asia Willard was the only player in double figures for Conway with 10 points. Christin Rogers added 10 rebounds.

Alexis Tolefree, Hailey Estes and Jordan Danberry all had eight points. Heather Lumley added six.

It was a limited Senior Night for Conway. Seniors Kaylynn Boyd and Jada Benton missed the season with knee injuries. Other seniors are managers Grace Delph and Anna Rogers.
