North Little Rock’s girls sent John Hutchcraft’s Guy-Perkins girls into the opposite bracket from his daughter, Conway High coach Ashley Nance, in Wednesday’s games of the Bank of the Ozarks John Stanton Wampus Cat Invitational.
The Lady Cats now will play defending 7A champion Little Rock Hall in Friday’s 7 p.m. semifinals then possibly meet North Little Rock in Saturday’s girls title game.
Kyra Collier and Ariel Frazier scored 13 points each for the Lady Charging Wildcats. Abigale Smith and Brianna Duncan scored 10 points each for Guy.
In the other girls game, Megan Hartness scored 18 points in Greenwood’s 69-45 victory over Hot Springs. Tiaumna Watkins had 18 points for Hot Springs.
In boys play, Fayetteville defeated Pine Bluff, 65-53. Mason Adams scored 15 points for the Bulldogs and Luke Renner added 11. Marcus Thomas and Roosevelt Mackey had 14 each for the Zebras.
Harrison’s boys edged Jacksonville, 69-67 behind 21 points from Wilson Marseilles.
Jordan Grant scored 20 points for the Goblins. Tedric Wolfe had 21 points and Sergio Berkley 20 for Jacksonville.
North Pulaski’s boys defeated Hot Springs, 63-50. Rashad Langston had 15 points for North Pulaski. Fred Thomas added14. Chris Lenox had 10 for the Trojans.
Friday’s semifinals will be: Greenwood girls vs. North Little Rock, 4 p.m.; Fayetteville’s boys vs. Harrison, 5:30; Conway girls vs. LR Hall, 7 p.m.; Conway boys vs. North Pulaski, 8:30 p.m.
CABOT — Vilonia’s senior girls improved to 6-1 with a 54-50 victory over Benton in the Cabot Pre-Holiday Tournament.
The Eagles took a 32-16 lead into the half and held off a second-half comeback by the Lady Panthers.
Audrey Moran had 18 points and five assists, McKenzie Morris also had 18 points. Jessica Brandon had six rebounds.
Benton defeated the Vilonia boys, 66-46.
The Conway Christian Lady Eagles used a 40-16 first-half run to cruise to an 83-33 victory over Academics Plus in the second round Wednesdy of the OrthoArkansas/Conway Christian Invitational.
CCS had six players in double figures, led by Mary-Morgan Ellis with 15 points. Carly Powell and McKinley Wallace each scored 13 points, while Lindsey Clay and Lyndi Dather scored 12. Elizabeth Kennedy added six points.
The Lady Eagles advanced to play Class 7A Little Rock Central in the semifinals of the tournament.
In other girls action, Pangburn’s Lady Tigers defeated Episcopal Collegiate ,64-42. The Lonoke Lady Jackrabbits defeated Woodlawn 55-21. In boys action, Lonoke defeated Pangburn 81-53, and McCrory defeated Academics Plus 60-53.
MORRILTON — Pottsville defeated Greenbrier’s girls, 43-27, Wednesday in a basketball tournament at Morrilton.
Alexis Hogan had eight points for the Lady Panthers. Kory Westerman had seven and Ali Skudlark, six.
Greenbrier will play Clarksville in a losers bracket game at 4 p.m. Friday.
FOUNTAIN LAKE — Fountain Lake defeated Mayflower, 59-51, Tuesday.
Leading the Lady Eagles in scoring was Jessica Webb with 15 points. Tierra Lasker and LonJanae Wyatt both scored eight points each and Emily Hampton had seven points.
The Lady Eagles play at home against Benton Harmony Grove Friday night.
Little Rock Parkview defeated Conway White, 6-25, Wednesday in ninth-grade basketball.
Joe Thomas has eight points for Conway (3-3).
