Wampus Cat Invitational games moved back to Wednesday

After weather and icy road conditions prompted postponement of the opening day Monday of the Bank of the Ozarks John Stanton Wampus Cat Invitational, further adjustments have been made to Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s schedule.

Monday’s games in the week-long tournament at Buzz Bolding Arena will be played Wednesday.

There will only be two games on Tuesday: Conway girls vs. West Memphis, 7 p.m., and Conway boys vs. Bryant at 8:30.

There will be five games on Wednesday. The Tuesday Fayetteville vs. Pine Bluff boys game will be played at 5 p.m. on Wednesday in the old gym at Conway High School. The other four games are as scheduled in the arena.

Wednesday at Buzz Bolding Arena: Greenwood vs. Hot Springs girls, 4 p.m.; Jacksonville vs. Harrison boys, 5:30 p.m.; North Little Rock vs. Guy-Perkins girls, 7 p.m.; North Pulaski vs. Hot Springs boys, 8:30 p.m.

 

CCS’ Ferrand on awards list

Conway Christian quarterback/wide receiver Chandler Ferrand is one of three nominess for the Class 2A Offensive Player of the Year in end-of-the-season awards sponsored by The Farm Bureau and coordinated by Hooten’s Publishing.

The Farm Bureau Awards honor Arkansas’ top offensive player, defensive player and coach of the year for each classification.

The veteran staff at Hooten’s Arkansas Football selects three finalists for each category, and those 45 finalists and their families are invited to attend the Farm Bureau Awards Dec. 16 in North Little Rock.

Other nominees the offensive award in Class 2A are Deron Ricks of Carlisle and Austin Kirkpatrick of Gurdon.
