Two victories over Hazen advanced St. Joseph teams into the winners’ bracket Tuesday in the St. Joseph Classic.
The Lady Bulldogs (7-1) defeated Hazen, 56-33. The Bulldogs (7-2) won, 62-42.
For the Lady Bulldogs, Anna Mayor had 17 points and eight rebounds. Madeline Moix had 11 points and seven rebounds. Meagan Briggler had eight points and Monica Davanzo had seven points and six rebounds. Caroline Dail had five rebounds. Rachel Briggler had six assists and three steals and Abby Kordsmeier added four assists.
“This was a good win in our tournament,” said St. Joseph coach Chris Kordsmeier. “We did a good job with our rebounding, especially on the offensive end. Good effort by the girls overall.”
Drake Cooper scored 20 points and added six rebounds to lead the boys, while Landon Enderlin added 12. Nash Nichols had nine points, four rebounds and five steals. Dylan Schrekenhofer added nine points. Taylor Schrekenhofer had five points. William Field had four assists.
“I was proud of our effort and intensity,” said St. Joseph coach Brent Bruich. “We played hard for four quarters. We got sloppy at times and we had some mistakes that we will have to clean up and get better. At times we were flowing well on offense. We competed hard on the glass as well and we have to do that every night.”
In other games Tuesday, Perryville’s girls downed Marshall, 54-24 and Lonoke’s boys defeated Vilonia, 59-43.
HEBER SPRINGS — Heber Springs defeated Mayflower girls, 58-22, in senior basketball Tuesday.
Raegan Bartlett had eight points and 10 rebounds for the Lady Eagles. Lonjanae Wyatt added six.
In junior action, Mayflower won, 41-31. Ali York scored 17 points, and Tori Lasker added 13. Tristen Lasker had seven points and seven steals.
The Mayflower boys won, 57-54, in overtime.
Leading scorers for Mayflower (4-1) were Hayden Long, 27, and J.P. Perry with 14.
Conway Blue’s eighth-grade boys defeated Bryant (2-2), 53-35, Tuesday to move to 2-1.
Devin Clark had 13 points for the Blue while Jaren Richards added 11. Donald Jones had eight.
The Faulkner County Homeschool Lady Falcons recently defeated the Saline Warriors, 38-18, in 16-and-under play.
Victoria Gerbholz led the Falcons with 13 points, while Marissa Payne had eight, Tymber Crawley and Lizzie Flake scored six each, and Joeli Harvey added five. Crawley added 11 rebounds, and Gerbholz collected seven. Crawley also led with 3 assists, while she and Claire Coffey each made two steals.
The win moved the Lady Falcons to 3-2 on the season.
RUTH DOYLE GIRLS
Ruth Doyle Middle School’s seventh-grade girls defeated Bryant on Tuesday, 45-5.
Reagan Roetzel led all scorers with 19 points, and 4 steals, while Asiyha Smith added 17 pts with seven coming from the free-throw line. Tamia Wiseman contributed eight pts and four steal.
