Meet of Champs: Vilonia's Wyatt 2nd in pole vault; Houston Cotton second in 300 hurdles

Vilonia’s Kyle Wyatt and Houston Cotton recorded second-place finishes Saturday to highlight Faulkner County finishes in the Meet of Champs track meet.


Wyatt, the Class 5A champion, was second in the pole vault. Both he and Daniel Spickes, of Rogers Heritage, cleared 15-8 but Spickes was awarded first place on fewer misses.

Cotton finished second in the 300 hurdles in 40.4 and was eighth in the 110 hurdles in 15.47.

Vilonia finished fifth in the boys 4x400 relay and seventh in the 4x800 relay.

The Eagles’ Luke Matya finished eighth in the 800 in 2:05.22.

Conway Christian’s Andrew Dather finished fifth in both the long jump (21-11.25) and the triple jump (44-4).

Conway High’s Brannon Kotch was sixth in the discus at 138-5.

Mayflower’s Madison Chambliss finished 10th in the 400 meters in 51.3.

In the girls division, Vilonia’s Rebecca Brandon was fourth in the shot put at 37-2.

The Meet of Champions brings together the state champions in each of seven classifications plus the next three best times from the various state meets.
