LITTLE ROCK — Little Rock Hall’s Bobby Portis ravaged Conway from afar while Javon Perry made an unusual six-point tirade Tuesday night as the Warriors ran away from the Wampus Cats for the second straight game.
Portis, a 6-foot-10 University off Arkansas recruit, hit six straight 3-pointers early in the second quarter to lead Hall to a 75-41 victory. The Warriors stretched their record to 16-4, 8-0 while the Cats fell to 13-8, 4-5.
Portis scored 35 points and had nine rebounds. Perry added 15 points. Near the end of the half, he hit a 3-pointer, stole the inbounds pass and drove for a three-point play, all within six seconds.
Justin Leon had 13 points for the Cats while Tim Boyd added 13.
In the girls game, the Lady Warriors (20-2, 8-0) built a 30-13 lead after a quarter, stretched it to 52-25 at the half before the Lady Cats (13-8, 3-6) scored 10 straight points in the fourth quarter to make things respectable in a 76-62 defeat. The Lady Cats missed 18 free-throw attempts.
Tyler Scaife led Hall with 20 points. Jordan Danberry had 15 for Conway. Christin Rogers added 12 and McCall Wilkins and Enjonae Chambers added 11 each.
Conway teams play Friday at Fort Smith Northside.
MAYFLOWER BOYS
LITTLE ROCK — Episcopal Collegiate built a 29-15 halftime lead on the way to a 60-48 basketball victory over Mayflower on Tuesday in boys basketball.
A major turning point was when the Eagles’ Dane Richardson picked up a third foul in the first quarter after scoring eight quick points.
Mayflower managed to cut the deficit to six in the third quarter before the Wildcats pulled away for good.
J.P. Perry and Richardson had 13 each for the Eagles. Mahlon Martin had 21 and Allie Fremman 14 for the Wildcats.
The Eagles close conference play Friday at Fountain Lake.
CONWAY WHITE
LAKE HAMILTON — Lake Hamilton defeated Conway White 33-32 Tuesday night in ninth-grade boys basketball.
Prentice Mullins, Tanner Thone and Collin Cahill each had seven points for the Kittens, who finished the regular season 11-10 and 4-4 in conference.
