Basketball roundup: Bigelow prevails in girls game against St. Joseph

BIGELOW — Bigelow romped to a 52-33 senior girls basketball victory Thursday over St. Joseph.

Madeline Moix scored eight points and Abby Kordsmeier and Megan Briggler had six each for the Lady Bulldogs.

The Lady Panthers won the junior girls game, 26-23, in overtime. Amber Briggler scored 15 points for St. Joseph.

Faulkner Falcons

The Saline County Warriors, the No. 1-ranked homeschool team in the state and the defending 5A national champions, defeated the Faulkner Falcons homeschool team, 62-53, Thursday night.

The Falcons were led by Trent Wolf with 19 points and 12 rebounds and Daniel McNair with 15 points. Also scoring were Grant Ragland with eight points and five assists, Isaac Stanton with five points, Mark Baker with three points. The Falcons’ leading scorer, Carter Mayo, was held to two points.

The Falcons play another road game against the Fort Smith Patriots this weekend. The Falcons host the Faith Crusaders Monday night at Central Baptist College for Senior Night.

Greenbrier junior girls

LITTLE ROCK — Ashton Howard made a key steal and layup to help put the Lady Panthers in the lead to outlast Little Rock Christian, 37-34, in overtime in junior girls basketball Thursday night.

The Lady Panthers outscored their opponent in OT 8-4. Kory Westerman led all scorers with 20 points. Ali Skudlark and Charli Short had eight and seven, respectively.

The Lady Panthers will be back in action Monday night at Panther Pavilion as they take on Morrilton. The victory puts the Lady Panthers at 6-3 for the year.

Vilonia 7th girls

The Vilonia seventh-grade Lady Eagles came away with a couple of victories over the Bob Courtway Lady Kittens on Thursday.

Vilonia won the A game, 42-11. Keana Beaty led Vilonia with eight points and Aaliyah Cash added seven. Brynn Schuetter and Anna Kaye Kirk scored six points each with Kirk having five rebounds. Callie Eary and Alexis Burnham scored four points each. Talyn Lawrence, Kaitlyn Weaver, and Hannah Millsap added two points. Sydney Johnson scored 1 point.  Alyssa Netherlain had 4 steals.  Grace Vanlandingham had 2 assists.

In the B game, the Lady Eagles won, 12-0  Sydney Johnson, Marlee Hinsley, Hannah Millsap, Ashlyn Koonce, Karli Thompson, and Beth Franks scored two points each. Ally Swaim had two steals and two rebounds.  Courtney Kennedy had two rebounds.

Ruth Doyle 7th girls

Carl Stuart defeated Ruth Doyle, 41-22, Thursday night in seventh-grade basketball.

Lauren Brockman led Ruth Doyle with nine points for Ruth Doyle while Toineka Webb scored six points, Khalil Miles had four and Cardrina Nolen scored three points.
