GREERS FERRY — Mount Vernon-Enola’s senior girls won the Greers Ferry Lake Classic with a 68-48 victory over Pangburn.
The Lady Warhawks remained undefeated.
FAULKNER JUNIOR TOURNAMENT
MAYFLOWER — Vilonia and Greenbrier split championships Saturday in the Faulkner County Junior High Tournament here.
In junior girls, Vilonia won Greenbrier, 31-20. The Lady Eagles outscored the Lady Panthers, 8-3, in the third quarter to pull away.
Abby Hightower and Sydney Wader each had eight points for Vilonia. Kori Westerman had nine for Greeenbrier.
Greenbrier built a 16-3 halftime lead on the way to a 29-24 victory in the boys championship game.
Carter Burcham led the Panthers with 10 points and Peyton Webb had seven. Josh Greer led Vilonia with eight points and Austin Newell had five.
MAYFLOWER
LITTLE ROCK — Mayflower’s senior boys ran their record to 9-2 Friday with a 57-51 victory over eStem.
The Eagles (9-2, 4-1) outscored the Mets 26-20 in the second half to pull away.
Leading scorers for Mayflower were Dane Richardson with 17 and J.P. Perry with 12.
Mayflower plays next at Jessieville on Tuesday.
ST. JOSEPH
St. Joseph’s boys opened a 40-13 lead and powered to a 66-35 victory Friday over Quitman at the St. Joseph Family Activity Center.
Cole Schichtl had 10 points and nine rebounds for the Bulldogs (16-2, 2-0). Taylor Schrekenhofer also and 10 points. Drake Cooper had eight points and five rebounds. Josh Antoine added six points. Dylan Schrekenhofer had four rebounds, Nash Nichols, five steals, Williams Fields and Drew Bates, four assists.
“I was proud of how we played tonight, especially defensively,” said St. Joseph coach Brent Bruich. “We were very active. We were pretty sharp on offense as well. This was our first game in three weeks and it was good for us to play as well as we did.”
Quitman won the senior girls game, 53-44.
Madeline Moix led the Lady Bulldogs (8-10, 1-1) with 19 points. Meagan Briggler added 12 points and Morgan Kordsmeier, nine. Rachel Briggler added seven assists.
“Quitman played well tonight,” said St. Joseph coach Chris Kordsmeier. “They shot well from the field and the free-throw line. We just had a tough night in defending them. We have to get better and take more pride in our defensive effort.”
In junior girls, St. Joseph won, 41-34. Amber Briggler led with 22 points. Mary Rose Siebenmorgan added 11. Rachell Prall had 10 rebounds, five blocks and five points. Joanie Elsinger had five rebounds. Erin Sterka had four assists and three steals.
