Another track honor for Hendrix's Elizabeth Krug

Hendrix College senior Elizabeth Krug has been named the South/Southeast Region Field Athlete of the Year by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

Also the 2013 recipient of the award, the Heber Springs native scored 52.75 points at the Southern Athletic Association Championships, winning the javelin and 400 meter hurdles. She was also named the SAA Field Athlete of the Year.

Krug is the region’s top-ranked heptathlete with a score of 4,539 and she will defend her national title as the 11th seed at this year’s NCAA Championships in Delaware, Ohio on Thursday and Friday.

Freshman Victoria Amadi will also compete in the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships in the triple jump at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Trojans slip past UCA in OT
