Hendrix swimmers have success on Day 2 of conference meet

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Hendrix College men’s and women’s swim teams had a trio of top three finishes and broke one school record on the second day of the Southern Athletic Association Swimming & Diving Championships at the Birmingham Crossplex on Saturday.

Senior John Byford placed third and broke his own school record in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:13.39. Freshman Troy Koser also gained valuable points for the Warriors in the same event, finishing seventh in 4:29.92.

For the women, senior Jo Claire Robertson placed second in the 100 backstroke in 59.25 and 10th in the 100 butterfly in 1:01.42. Sophomore Bayley Krell recorded a 1:07.92 time in the 100 breaststroke finals, taking third place.

Laura Price, Sydney Haldeman, Sarah McHugh and Taylor Keplin finished fifth in the 800 freestyle relay in 8:41.03. Robertson, Krell, Abby Schlenk and Claire DePree were sixth in the 200 medley relay in 1:54.44.

THe 200 yard medley relay team of Byford, Griffin, Koser and Eric Mullins took fifth in 1:41.68.
