Hendrix splits with BSC, Millsaps

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Hendrix College volleyball team went on the road over the weekend for a pair of Southern Athetlic Association matches and came away with a split.

On Saturday, the Warriors (10-6, 1-2) fell to Millsaps College (9-6, 2-0) 25-22, 25-12, 25-22, but rebounded to take down Birmingham-Southern College (10-2, 1-2) 25-20, 19-25, 26-24, 25-18 in Alabama on Sunday.

In the win over the Panthers, the Warriors were down 15-14 in the first set, but ended the game with an 11-5 run to set the pace for the match.

Freshman outside hitter MC Rogers connected on a season-best 20 kills to go with 11 digs and seven blocks to lead the Warriors. Freshman outside hitter Samantha Stockdale also had a personal best with nine kills. Freshman middle Jen Karnes added eight kills and seven blocks and freshman setter Allison Gaia recorded 20 assists. Junior libero Ella Concavage-Nasar led the defense with 15 digs and sophomore Jill Sikes had 11.

Against the Majors, Rogers led the Warrior offense with nine kills to go with a season-best 27 digs and three aces. Karnes added six kills and Concavage-Nasar had a career-high 29 digs.

Hendrix will be back in action on Saturday when it hosts Berry College.
