RUSSELLVILLE — The Hendrix College men’s and women’s cross country teams kicked off the 2013 campaign at the Arkansas Tech University Invitational on Saturday.
Under the 10th-year head coach Patrick MacDonald, the Warrior men finished fourth, while filling just a team of four runners. Sophomore Jeffrey Scott paced Hendrix with an 8K time of 28.33.6, placing 15th. Freshmen Tanner Elliott was 20th in 30:20.2 and senior Ryan Flores finished 28th in 32:52.1. Junior Marcel Douglas finished 29th in 33:25.4.
Southern Arkansas University took first place, by finishing in seven of the top eight places. The University of the Ozarks followed, then John Brown University, Hendrix and University of Arkansas-Monticello.
The Warrior women only sent three runners to compete and did not compile a team score. Junior Nicholle Cromwell placed 18th and completed the 5K course in 21:29.7. Freshman Sophie Katz was just behind in 21:49.3, placing 19th and freshman Dani Ramirez-Aguilar was 33rd in 22:42.1
