Rhodes sweeps Hendrix in softball doubleheader

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Rhodes College swept Hendrix, 4-3 and 4-1, in a softball doubleheader here Saturday.

The host Lynx upped their record to 18-12, 12-5 while the Warriors fell to 19-13, 8-8.

In the first game, Chloe Hundman (8-7) earned the win, allowing three hits and one earned run over four innings. Forrest Skelton allowed two hits and a walk while striking four in a three-inning save. Ashley Halbert (8-9) allowed eight hits, three earned runs, a walk and struck out one in six innings.

Skelton (10-5) limited the Hendrix offense to just four hits and two walks while striking out seven in game two. Hendrix and Rhodes will wrap the series with a noon double-header on Sunday.

Mark Moyer, a redshirt freshman from Russellville who missed the 2016 season with an arm injury, went the distance, allowing just five hits and striking out four to record UCA’s first complete game of the season to lead the University of Central Arkansas to a run-rule, 10-0 victory New Orleans University in the runner game of the three-game series Sunday at Bear Stadium.
