The Hendrix College men’s tennis team opened the spring season with a 9-0 defeat to NCAA Division II powerhouse Harding University at the Hendrix Tennis Courts on Tuesday afternoon.
The host Warriors (0-3) pushed the Bisons (2-1) in doubles competition. The Hendrix top tandem of sophomores Robert Sheets and Bob Berardi got up on Caleb McReynolds and Matheus Mosquera-Carrascosa 3-1, but the Harding duo came back to win 8-5. The HU second doubles team of Adam McReynolds and Helio Hashimoto bested senior Udai Garimella and sophomore Nick Berardi 8-4.
Hendrix will be off until Feb. 15 when it takes on John Brown University at Burns Park in North Little Rock.
