UCA softball team loses to S.D. State and Western illinois

The University of Central Arkansas softball team lost to South Dakota State and Western Illinois on Sunday to finish the UCA Invitational 1-3.

The Bears (4-11) lost, 6-2, to South Dakota State (5-8) and to Western Illinois (10-3), 7-6, in extra innings.

Trailing 6-0, the Bears scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh against South Dakota Stae.

Western Illinois took advantage of a five-run second inning to outlast the Bears. Jessie Taylor, who homered in the fourth, tied the game in the seventh with a grand slam. in its runner, Western Illinois sacrificed the runner automactically on second to third base and Tierney Bottino drove in the winning run with a sacrifice fly.

Central Arkansas returns to action on Wednesday, hosting Arkansas-Pine Bluff in a doubleheader.
