UCA tight end gets national honor
University of Central Arkansas tight end Chase Dixon has been named the co-FCS National Tight End Performer of the Week by College Sports Performance Awards.
Dixon, a 6-foot-5, 239-pound senior from Fort Smith Southside, caught a career-high nine passes for a career-high 149 yards on Saturday against McNeese State. Dixon had a 3-yard touchdown reception and also set up another score with a 52-yard reception on UCA’s first offensive possession of the game.
“Chase Dixon has been a positive and consistent presence for our offensive football team through our first five games,’ said UCA coach Clint Conque. “Chase had one of the all-time great performances by a UCA tight end on Saturday. It is obvious to see the reason NFL scouts have flooded our offices since our game against Colorado. His length, speed and ball skills make him a very difficult matchup for linebackers and safeties.
“Chase committed this summer to get bigger and stronger and we have seen his in-line blocking significantly improve. I couldn’t be more proud for Chase to receive this recognition. He is a leader of our team and will be a significant part of our offensive philosophy moving forward.”
Dixon, who caught 11 passes, with four touchdowns, last year, has 17 receptions for 215 yards and a team-high four touchdowns this season. He was on the preseason watch list for the College Football Performance Awards Tight End Watch List prior to the season.
Hendrix’s Lallas gets SAA honor

On Saturday in a 4-4 tie against Millsaps, Lallas hit a penalty kick and assisted another goal.
