While a trip to Vaught-Hemingway Stadium is uncharted waters for the University of Central Arkansas Bears, it will mark old home weekend for UCA wide receiver Jesse Grandy.
“For me, it’s like a family gathering,” he said. “It will be like a reunion. I’m excited.”
Grandy, a former Dollarway star who transferred to UCA from Ole Miss in 2011 for family reasons, is in the Ole Miss record books. He is second in career kick return yardage at Ole Miss. He was 10th in the nation in return yardage while playing for the Rebels in 2010.
Grandy, along with his UCA teammates, will take on Ole Miss on Saturday night in a historic game for the UCA program.
He still knows several players on the Ole Miss team.
“We converse here and there, just friendly stuff,” Grandy said. “I’m looking forward to seeing them again. They are ready to play someone difference just like we are.”
Grandy, 5-foot-11, 165 pounds and elusive, is ready to make more of an impact for the Bears this season..
And he made an impact last season as the Bears’ leading receiver with 49 catches for 788
