Lady Demons send Bears into losers bracket

HAMMOND, La. — Second-seeded Northwestern State broke a 3-3 tie in the sixth and went on to a 5-3 victory over the University of Central Arkansas on Thursday in the second round of the Southland Conference softball tournament.

The Bears (25-33) defeated Sam Houston State in a first-round game earlier in the day.

They are scheduled to play Stephen F. Austin at 1:30 p.m. Friday in an elimination game.
