Walkoff home run sparks Lamar to sweep of UCA softball team

BEAUMONT, Texas — A walkoff home run in the bottom of the seventh by Lamar's Casey Cromwell gave the Lady Cardinals a 4-3 victory over the University of Central Arkansas and a sweep of the three-game weekend series.

The two teams entered the weekend tied for first in the early stages of the Southland Conference race. Lamar stretched its record to 12-10, 7-1 while the Bears fell to 14-20, 4-4).

Cromwell's home run countered a two-run homer by UCA's Sam Forrest that tied the game at three in the top of the seventh.

Cierra Clampitt (3-9) took the loss for the Bears.
