The University of Central Arkansas Bears scored 10 consecutive runs Tuesday night in taking an 18-12 victory over the Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions at Bear Stadium.
The Golden Lions scored three runs on three hits in the top of the first inning, but then saw the Bears post five runs in the second inning to take the lead for good. From the second through the sixth innings, UCA scored 18 runs and piled up 18 hits.
After trailing 18-4, the Golden Lions (7-12) piled up eight runs on just three hits in the top of the eighth inning before UCA reliever Bo Stitch finally got the Bears out of the inning with the final out on a foul out.
Doug Votolato led the Bears’ 15-hit attack, going 3-for-4 with three RBIs and three runs scored. Justin Treece was also 3-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored. Brandon Montalvo was 3-for-3 and scored twice and knocked in two runs.
The Bears (10-8) scored 18 runs in 36 official at-bats, taking advantage of nine walks and seven hit batters. Tyler Langley, Scott Zimmerle and Brad Dillenberger all added two RBIs for the Bears, who host Southland Conference preseason favorite Sam Houston State in a weekend series beginning at 6 p.m. Friday.
UCA junior Josh Markel (1-0) pitched a scoreless three innings in relief to pick up the victory.
The University of the Ozarks took a 7-5 victory over Hendrix College on Tuesday night at Warrior Field.

Collin Radack went 3-for-6 with two steals, two runs, an RBI and a double to lead Hendrix (8-11) at the plate. Thomas Weber and Seth Mobley also had two hits.
Second baseman Taylor Parker led Ozarks by going 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBIs and a double.
Former St. Joseph star Andrew Beck (1-1) earned the win for the Eagles, (7-10) giving up eight hits, two earned runs, one walk and three strikeouts over five innings.
Hendrix will host Millsaps in a double-header on Saturday.
The Hendrix College softball team swept the University of the Ozarks in a doubleheader at Warrior Field on Tuesday night. The Warriors (9-7) won the first game 5-3, then defeated the Lady Eagles (2-18) 9-3 in the nightcap.
Michaela Larabee had two hits and Tiffany Hubbard had a pair of doubles, a stolen base and scored twice in the first game. Anderson hit the home run and had two runs as well.
Sophomore Kayla Patton (6-4) earned the win, allowing six hits, three unearned runs, two walks and two strikeouts. Haley McKee (2-8) gave up eight hits, four earned runs and three walks.
Hendrix outhit Ozarks 13-11 in game two. Shelby Anderson tied the Warrior game record with three doubles in the game, to go with three RBIs and a run scored. Gray went 3-for-4 for Ozarks.
Freshman Hope Resor (2-2) earned the win, giving up three runs, a walk and two strikeouts. Tabitha McClane (0-6) allowed 10 hits and six earned runs over four innings in the loss.
Hendrix will be off until Tuesday, March 25, when it hosts Nebraska Wesleyan.
