Sugar Bears' Duever, Mullins get top SLC honors

Central Arkansas senior center Courtney Duever has been named the 2013-14 Southland Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Year by a vote of the league’s head coaches and sports information directors.


  Stephen F. Austin junior forward Porsha Roberts earned defensive player of the year honors, Central Arkansas freshman Brianna Mullins was tabbed the league’s top freshman and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi senior Jasmine Shaw was named the newcomer of the year. A&M-Corpus Christi coach Royce Chadwick was named the Southland Coach of the Year.

 

It's the fourth straight year a UCA player has earned top honors. Megan Herbert did it three straight years. Duever, a senior from Austin, Texas who also made the all-defensive team, is m aking her second all-conference appearance, having been named to the third team a season ago.
