Warriors take baseball series with Rhodes

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Hendrix College baseball team split with Rhodes College on Saturday at Stauffer Field to take the first Southern Athletic Association set of the season.

After winning 13-9 in 12 innings on Friday, the Warriors (5-6, 2-1) used a pitching gem from sophomore Kyle Teachout to win 3-0 in Saturday’s opener. The Lynx (7-4, 1-2) rebounded to win the nightcap 5-2.

Teachout needed just 91 pitches in the six-hit, one-walk shutout. On the season, Teachout is 2-0 with a 0.00 earned run average in 21.2 innings.

Thomas Weber and Matt Simmons each had two hits for Hendrix in the first game with Simmons driving in a pair. Patrick Kilkenny and Andrew Wallis had two hits a piece for Rhodes.
