Bears romp to 18-3 victory over Alabama State

After being shut out three straight gams by nationally ranked opposition, the University of Central Arkansas softball team revived Friday night with an 18-3 thumping of outmanned Alabama State in the opener of the UCA Invitational at Farris Field.

 

 

UCA (4-8)  had 14 hits, six walks, and six hit batsmen to take down the Hornets 18-3.

 

 

Sam Forrest and Briana Whisenhunt were both  3-for-3.

 

Kylee Studioso (2-2) picked up the complete win for Central Arkansas, throwing five innings. She allowed three runs on six hits and a walk while striking out 11 Hornets.

 

Central Arkansas returns to action at 3:45 p.m. Saturday against Drexel, in one of five games scheduled to take place at Farris Field.

UCA’s Anderson SLC’s Student-Athlete of the Year

University of Central Arkansas junior volleyball player Samantha Anderson has been named the Southern Conference’s Student-Athlete of the Year, while senior Megan Nash earned First Team all-conference honors and sophomore Elizabeth Armstrong was named to the Second Team.
