Baseball: UCA rally falls short at Wichita; Hendrix downs Ozarks

WICHITA, Kan. — After falling behind 9-0 after four innings here Tuesday, a spirited University of Central Arkansas rally fell short in a loss to the Shockers.

Trailing 9-1 in the ninth, the Bears loaded the bases with one out. Conway’s Wesley Hoover cleaned them with a triple. Charles Deckard doubled in Hoover and Austin White followed with another RBI double before the Shockers quelled the rally and ended the game.

Hoover was 2 for 4 with three RBI.

HENDRIX

CLARKSVILLE — Hendrix won its first game in five outings Tuesday, pounding out 18 hits in a 14-11 victory over University of the Ozarks.

The Warriors (1-4) won the wild one despite committing nine errors.

Collin Raddack was three for five with four runs, two RBI and a home run. Ryan Ritz was three for five with two RBI. Thomas Weber was two for four with three RBI. Matt Simmons was two for four with two RBI. Spencer Summers ws two for two and Wyatt Hogan was three for four with three runs score.

Brian Commerford (1-1) got the win and Justin Mosbey the save in relief.

Sports roundup: UCA baseball, tennis, Hendrix baseball

Mark Moyer, a redshirt freshman from Russellville who missed the 2016 season with an arm injury, went the distance, allowing just five hits and striking out four to record UCA’s first complete game of the season to lead the University of Central Arkansas to a run-rule, 10-0 victory New Orleans University in the runner game of the three-game series Sunday at Bear Stadium.
