Bears surge in second half to pull away from Lions

The University of Central Arkansas Bears mounted a 17-0 run in the second half on the way to a 85-71 victory over Southeastern Louisiana on Thursday at the Farris Center.

The Lions (9-12, 4-6) went 6:55 without scoring in the second half after leading by eight early.

LaQuentin Miles, who scored 11 of 15 points during the surge, led the Bears (6-15, 3-7) with 21 points. UCA hit 21 of 31 free throws.

Mark Moyer, a redshirt freshman from Russellville who missed the 2016 season with an arm injury, went the distance, allowing just five hits and striking out four to record UCA’s first complete game of the season to lead the University of Central Arkansas to a run-rule, 10-0 victory New Orleans University in the runner game of the three-game series Sunday at Bear Stadium.
