KENT, Ohio - Hendrix College senior Elizabeth Krug placed fourth in the pentathlon at the Kent State Golden Flashes Gala on Friday. Krug, a four-time All-American from Heber Springs, scored 3,311 points, the highest mark in NCAA Division III. Krug finished behind two athletes from Notre Dame and one from Slippery Rock, while beating out competitors from Bowling Green, Denison, Wright State, Pittsburgh, Fredonia State, John Carroll and Walsh. Krug kicked things off with a 10th-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.69 seconds. She broke her school record in the high jump by clearing 1.57 meters (5 ft.-1.75 in.), tying for seventh. Krug had the third best mark in the shot put at 10.96 meters (35 ft.-11.5 in.). She placed eighth in the long jump at 4.95 meters (16 ft.-3 in.), then finished sixth in the 800 meter run in 2:29.35. Krug and the full Warrior team will compete in the Samford University Multi & Invitational in Birmingham, Ala. on Feb. 7-8.
