Southeastern Conference leader Southeastern Louisiana took a 2-1 victory over the University of Central women's soccer team Friday night at the Bill Stephens Complex.
Southeastern Louisiana (10-2-1, 5-1-0 SLC) jumped to a 1-0 lead in the 12th minute when Kayla Vera dribbled her way through the Central Arkansas (6-5-2, 3-2-0 SLC) defense along the goal and slipped the ball into the net for her second goal of the season.
Central Arkansas found an equalizer in the 40th minute. Marisela Chavez lofted a corner kick into the box, where it was collected by Kate Koch, who then put it away to even the score at 1-1. Chelsea Villaescusa fired a corner kick that Erin Christ headed home for what proved to be the winning goal.
Lyndzey Goff was in net for the Bears, making four saves and allowing two goals. Hope Sabadash allowed one goal and made five saves in goal for the Lady Lions.
Central Arkansas returns to action against Nicholls State at noon Sunday.
