Sam Houston State wins rubber game of softball series with UCA

HUNTSVILLE, Texas - Sam Houston State dominated the University of Central Arkansas softball team Sunday on the way to a 10-0 victory, taking the three-game series, 2-1.


The Bears dropped to 20-9 and 4-2 in the conference. Sam Houston is 14-15, 3-3.


Haley Baros (5-7) earned the win for the Bearkats, allowing six hits over six innings and striking out five. Sarah Bigej and Sam Forrest both went 2-for-3 for the Bears, with Forrest picking up her 12th double of the season for the Bears’ only extra base hit.


Kelsie Armstrong (13-6), who worked only two innings and gave up two home runs before being relieved, took the loss. The game marked only the third time in 18 starts that Armstrong has not finished the game.


The Bears have a  three-game series Tuesday and Wednesday at Houston Baptist.
