DANVILLE, Ky. – The Hendrix College and Centre College baseball teams split a pair of Southern Athletic Association low-scoring games at Gary Wright Field on Saturday afternoon.

The host Colonels (8-5, 3-2) won the opener 1-0, while the Warriors (6-13, 2-6) rebounded to take the nightcap 2-1 in seven innings.

In game two, Hendrix senior Ted Smoyer (2-1) struck out three and allowed just four hits, a run, two walks and hit two batters in seven innings to pick up the win.

The Warriors only had five hits.

In the first game, Centre scored the only run of the game in the bottom of the sixth when Aaron Ammann led off with a single and Jake Johnson walked to start the inning. After a balk by Hendrix freshman starter Will Nichol, Litsey knocked in Ammann from third base with a ground ball that resulted in an error.

Zach Crenshaw had two hits for Hendrix.

Hendrix and Centre will play the final game of the series Sunday.
