NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Valparaiso rallied for six runs in the fifth inning Sunday to defeat the University of Central Arkansas, 7-3, in the Belmont Invitational Tournament.
The Bears finished the season-opening tourney at 2-2.
Melissa and Melanie Bryant were 2 for 4 for the Bears with Melissa having a deouble. Sam Forrest continued her hitting tear with a home run. Lissa Avitia was 2 for 3.
Kelsie Armstrong gave up seven runs and nine of Valpo's 12 hits in 1.2 inning of work, taking the loss. Of those seven runs, one was earned.
