MCKINNEY, Texas — The Hendrix College baseball team scored four first-inning runs en route to a 6-4 victory over East Texas Baptist University at the Ballfields at Craig Ranch on Saturday afternoon.
The Warriors (2-0) outhit the Tigers (1-1) 10-7 in the game and benefited from ETBU leaving 10 runners on base.
Ryan Ritz went 3-for-4 at the plate for Hendrix and Collin Radack was 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles and two runs scored. Newville recorded two hits and scored twice and Matt Simmons drove in two, giving him five RBI through two games so far this season. On the mound, sophomore Nick Land (1-0) earned the win, allowing five hits, three runs and two strikeouts over five innings. Freshman Daniel Imbro picked up the four-inning save, giving up two hits and an unearned run, while fanning three.
Hendrix's game Sunday was rained out.
