Greenbrier quarterback Seth Peters, who led the Panthers to a 10-1 season and a 5A-West title last season, became a part of history Wednesday.
Peters made it official that he's joining the Hendrix football program, which has been dormant since 1961. The Warriors will begin competing in the Southern Athletic Association of NCAA Division III this fall.
Peters becomes the first player from Faulkner County to join the Warriors.
Division III does not allow scholarships for athletics, which is fine with Peters.
"It's very exciting to me to be a part of the startup of a new program and be able to make your own history," Peters said. "But what excites me more is the academics. One of the driving forces of my life has been academics. I love playing football but getting a good education is important to me in helping me follow my dreams to become a doctor."
