Birmingham Southern men too much for Warrriors

Posted: January 18, 2013 - 10:35pm

Birmingham-Southern, the Southern Athletic Assocition leader, broke open a close game with a 12-4 run late in the first half on the way to a 78-60 victory over Hendrix in men's baskeball Friday night at Grove Gymnasium.

The Panthers (12-3, 5-0) were leading 28-24 when Brendan Marschner hit a 3-pointer, then forced a turnover with a hustling play. Kevin Kagarise maneuvered for a three-point play to spark the Panthers to a 40-28 halftime lead. BSC pretty much settled things with a 13-5 run to begin the second half.

Luke Vance was the only player in double figures for Hendrix with 14. Guard Larry Thomas scored 21 for the Panthers.

The Warriors, who will host Millsaps on Sunday, fell to 5-11, 0-5.

Further details will be in Sunday's print edition of the Log Cabin Democrat.
