UCA's Angles wins Weibring Invitational


NORMAL, Ill. — University of Central Arkansas sophomore Pep Angles shot an even-par 213 to win the D.A Weibring Intercollegiate by four strokes on Sunday at the Illinois State University Golf Course.




Angles, from San Andres de Llavaneras, Spain, shot rounds of 70-70-73 to beat Missouri State's Daily Young by four strokes. UCA finished second as a team to Illinois in the 15-team field. Illinois finished at 870, followed by UCA (891), Illinois State (893), Missouri State (894), Wisconsin (902), Detroit Mercy (906), Miami of Ohio (912), Nebraska (912), Southern Illinois (913), SIU-Edwardsville and Northern Illinois (917), Northern Iowa (924), Western Illinois (929), Loyola-Chicago (931) and Bradley (936).




For UCA, senior Austen Moix of Conway finished tied for 15th with rounds of 77-72-74_223, while sophomore David Morago shot 79-75-70_225 and tied for 23rd. Junior Richard Farmer tied for 45th (74-79-79_232) and freshman James Newton tied for 65th (83-78-78_239).
