TYLER, Texas – The Hendrix College volleyball team earned a split on the final day of the UT Tyler/Trinity Mother Frances Invitational on Saturday.
The Warriors (2-6) lost to East Texas Baptist in five sets 25-16, 25-22, 22-25, 18-25, 15-12 in the opener, but rebounded to defeat LeTourneau in straight sets 25-13, 25-20, 25-14. In the win over the YellowJackets (2-5), the Warriors hit a season-best .370 with 43 kills and only nine errors and came up with 66 digs.
Senior middle blocker Melissa Clement connected on 15 kills and hit .583, while senior Kristen Finch had eight kills and hit .436 and freshman Shannon Abbott had a season-high seven kills.
Hendrix will open Southern Athletic Association play at Rhodes on Wednesday night.
