The Hendrix College women’s soccer team opened the 2012 season with a 3-0 shutout of University of Ozarks at Warrior Field on Saturday night.
The Warriors (1-0) spread the scoring around with three different players recording a goal and an assist. Freshman forward Samantha Lallas opened the scoring just 3:03 into the game, scoring on a pass from sophomore defender Kacey Hight. Senior Mel Roach scored in the 63rd minute, beating Lady Eagle keeper Mary Eoff one-on-one after passes from Lallas and senior midfielder Rebecca Rahn. Rahn added the final goal 1:12 later on a pass from the left side by Roach. Senior keeper Megan Childress recorded two saves in 64 minutes in front of the goal and combined with freshman Emily Kleinfelter for the shutout win. The Warriors host UT Tyler at noon Sunday.
