UCA softball team takes 10-2 victory

The University of Central Arkansas softball team won its first game of the season Wednesday, run-ruling Arkansas-Pine Bluff, 10-2, in five innings.

 

The game was played at UCA’s Farris Field because of wet grounds at Pine Bluff.

Both teams are 1-5.

The Bears’ Jessie Hoover and Krissy Fontillas broke the game open in the third with back-to-back home runs.

UCA swophomore Ellie Reaves (1-1) picked up her first win for the Bears, allowing one earned run on five hits, a walk, and a strikeout in 4.1 innings of work. Senior Kayla Gomness got the final two outs of the fifth inning, getting one strikeout.

The Bears hit the road for four games at the Purple & Gold Challenge, hosted by LSU this weekend. UCA will play Georgia Southern and LSU.
