Faulkner basketball roundup: Buzzer victory for St. Joseph in Joe Mallett Classic

 

 

Jack Briggler hit a layup at the buzzer Monday to give the St. Joseph boys to a 28-27 victory over Fountain Lake in the first round of the Centennial Bank Joe Mallett Classic at the St. Joseph Family Activity Center.

Briggler had four points and three assists. Spencer Pope led the Bulldogs (4-3) with 12 points and four rebounds. David Beck added four points and six rebounds. Brad Vandivere added four points and Triple Williams had three points and four rebounds.

In a girls first-round game, Mayflower defeated Perryville, 50-43.

Tori Lasker led Mayflower with 31 points. Tristen Lasker added 13.

Other first-round scores were:

Boys: Perryville 78, Wonderview 59; Guy-Perkins 85, Mayflower 56.

Girls: Fountain Lake 50, Guy-Perkins 36.

Greenbrier 7th grade

Greenbrier’s seventh-grade girls romped past Russellville Red, 40-6, Monday night.

Cali Kennedy had 10 points fort the Lady Panthers, followed by Marissa Simone, eight, and McKayla Betts, seven. Other Greenbrier scorers were: Emma Rehm and Emily Davenport-Vaughn, four, Meah Webb, three, Sydney Dunlap and Marlee Vanover, two each.

Russellville won the B game, 20-13. Erin Flake had four points for Greenbrier. Madilyn Thompson had three. Reese Myatt, Keelee Carroll and Hanna Jo Pinkston had two each.
