Bears slug past Southern Miss, 14-3, to win 2nd game of series

HATTIESBURG, Miss. — The University of Central Arkansas got strong pitching Friday and steady hitting Saturday in defeating Southern Mississippi in the first two games on a three-game baseball series here.


The Bears upped their record to 17-2 in unleashing a 13-hit attack Saturday in a 14-3 victory over the Golden Eagles (7-11).


Ethan Harris was 2 for 4 for the Bears with five RBIs and a home run. Blake Marchal was 2 for 5 with two RBIs. Jonathan Davis was 4 for 6 with two RBIs.


Jeffrey Enloe, the second of four pitchers for UCA, gave up four hits and struck out five in six innings to pick up the win. Conway’s Connor McClain retired the side in the final inning.


The Bears won the series opener Friday night on a complete-game four-hitter by Caleb McClanahan.


The final game of the series is Sunday afternoon.
