The Central Arkansas volleyball team won its 11th three-set match of the season Thursday night, defeating the Nicholls State, 25-18, 28-26, 25-16, to move to 13-1 on the season and 2-1 in Southland Conference play.
The Sugar Bears hit .291 for the match, led by Alicia Dittrich, who hit .471 on her way to 10 kills. Jessica Hays added 19 kills to go along with six digs and three service aces. Kyle Hartman chipped in with nine kills and two service aces. Marissa Collins added 48 assists and Shelbee Berringer had 19 digs.
Nicholls State (5-7, 2-1 SLC) hit only .103 for the match.
The Sugar Bears return to action on Saturday at noon, hosting Southland foe Southeastern Louisiana.
ROSE BUD — St. Joseph came from behind for a 15-25, 22-25, 25-15, 25-18, 15-8 victory over Rose Bud on Thursday night in volleyball.
“We had a terrible first two games (nine missed serves and two missed hits). The girls show a lot of heart to come back from two down,” said coach Luke Davis, “I’m very proud. This was a big conference win.”
Meagan Briggler had 12 kills and Linzy Holzeman nine. Madison Seiter was another kill leader and led in serves with three aces and three blocks. Sydnbey Spradlin had three aces and 33 assists. Madeline Moix had four blocks. Meagan Briggler and Rachel Briggler each had 12 digs.
Tuesday, the Lady Bulldogs (7-6, 6-2) defeated Mayflower, 25-11, 25-19, 25-21. Madeline Moix had six kills. Seiter was 13 of 14 in serves with three aces and eight digs. Spradlin added three aces and 12 assists. Rachel Briggler added seven assists.
GREENWOOD — The Conway Lady Cats ran their conference record to 5-1 Thursday night with a sweep of Greenwood, 25-19, 25-13, 25-11.
Sara Stovall had 12 kills and McCall Wilkins 11 for the Lady Cats (9-2). Bailey McKee had 32 assists and 12 digs. Abby Mann had 13 digs. Jada Benton had four blocks.
Conway won the JV game, 25-8, 25-6, to go to 8-1, 5-1.
Allison Weatherly had seven Kills while Sara Nethercutt added 17 assists. Alexa Hreha had two aces. McKenna Arnold had 16 digs and Courtney Campbell three blocks.
Ray Simon Middle School defeated Ruth Doyle Middle School, 25-16, 25-6, in seventh-grade volleyball Thursday.
Ruth Doyle came back to defeat Bob Courtway, 25-6, 12-25, 19-17. Bailey Glover had 12 aces and three digs for Ruth Doyle. Olivia Cummins and Ashley Wilson had six digs.
In B team play, Ruth Doyle defeat Simon, 25-8, 22-25, 16-14, and Bob Courtway, 25-20, 24-26, 15-7. Taylor Arnold had 11 aces for Ruth Doyle while Mary Claire Bright had eight and Lacey Simpson seven. Kristen Flippo added five digs.
MOUNT BERRY, Ga. — The Hendrix College volleyball team lost 25-14, 22-25, 25-16, 25-22 at Berry College in Southern Athletic Association action on Friday night.
The Warriors fall to 3-9 and 1-3 in league play, while the Vikings improve to 9-3 and 3-1.
Senior middle blocker Melissa Clement led the Warriors with 16 kills and a .500 hitting percentage to go with three total blocks. Junior outside hitter Katie Burchfield had 11 kills and seven digs and senior right side Katie Bates tied her season high with nine kills and hit .400. Junior setter Zoe Calhoun had 32 assists and six digs and freshman Jill Sikes tallied seven digs.
