Sports roundup: Conway volleyball vs. LR Hall; UCA volleyball

The University of Central Arkansas volleyball team opened the Sugar Bear Classic on Thursday with a 25-7, 25-13, 25-12 victory over Arkansas-Pine Bluff to remain perfect on the season.

The Sugar Bears continued the tournament Friday with a straight-set victory over Jackson State.

Saturday’s slate begins with Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Jackson State at 9:30 a.m, followed by Jacksonville State and South Dakota at 11:30, South Dakota and Jackson State at 2:30 p.m., and Jacksonville State and Central Arkansas at 4:30 p.m.

Against UAPB, UCA hit .516 for the match, led by Jessica Nagy who hit .833 on her way to five kills. Scout Brooks collected 10 kills to lead the Sugar Bears. South had 18 assists and four aces. Heather Schnars and Nicole Okeke had two blocks and Shelbee Beringer, 10 digs.

Conway High romped past Little Rock Hall in two volleyball matches Thursday.

In the varsity match, Conway won 25-2, 25-3, 25-7 to run its record to 7-1, 2-0 in 7A/6A Central.

Alexa Hreha had 10 kills. Bailee McKee and Sara Nethercutt added nine assists.

Jada Benton had eight kills and Abby Mann six aces. Matisse Monty had four digs.

Harrison took a 25-20, 25-19, 25-22 victory over Greenbrier in high school volleyball Thursday night.

Marissa Hollenbaugh was perfect on serves and had seven kills for the Lady Panthers (4-5, 0-3). MacKenzi Burrow was perfect on serves with 19 digs. Heather Heacox was perfect on serves with 14 digs. Marlo Stacy had 190 digs. Payton Starkey had six assists and three aces. Mackenzie Neumeier had five kills and eight assists. Kenzi Batterton and Savannah Baker led in blocks.

Harrison won the JV game, 25-13, 25-18.

Service leaders for the Lady Panthers were Emma Scribner, Haley Miller and Sarah Langston, who also had four kills. Katie Jonesw had four kills.
