The Conway High golf teams are completing plans to host the Arkansas 7A golf tournaments this season at two local courses.
The girls tournament will be Sept. 24-25 at Conway Country Club and will attract about 75 female golfers from 16 schools.
The boys tournament will be Oct. 1-2 at Centennial Valley Country club and is expected to attract about 80 male golfers from the 16 7A schools.
The Conway boys won both the 7A Central Conference and are the defending 7A state champions. The Conway girls are the defending 7A Central champions were the state runner-up last year.
There will be no admission charge to each event.
Presenting sponsors of the tournament are the Log Cabin Democrat, the Arkansas National Guard, the Conway A&P Commission and New Life Church.

Tuckerman High School coach Morgan Gilbert will be presented the sixth annual Buddy Harding Award during the Sept. 22 football game between UCA and Sam Houston State.
The award is presented to a UCA alumnus for Arkansas high school coaching excellence. The award is sponsored by Harding’s UCA fraternity, Sigma Tau Gamma.
A Tuckerman native, Gilbert is a 1965 graduate of UCA, where he was a baseball letterman. He has been in coaching for 48 years, returning to Tuckerman in 1974, serving as baseball and basketball coach. His 1992 baseball team won the state championship while the basketball team was state runner-up. He is the only coach in the country to win over 1,000 games in both basketball and baseball.
The award is named in memory of Rush “Buddy” Harding, Jr., who graduated from UCA in 1951. Harding went on to spend over 30 years at Clarendon High School as a coach and administrator. He is a member of the UCA Sports Hall of Fame and the Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame.
