Conway’s Toby Hart will try to complete a major comeback this weekend at the Cowboys Rodeo Association finals at Berryville.
She has qualified for the finals in breakaway roping.
A regular rodeo participant in various rodeo events, including queen competiton, Hart’s season has been disjointed because of a recent battle with cancer.
She said she has never seen a cowgirl without any hair wearing a western hat, the situation she found herself in last year.
She credits her love for riding horses and for dancing, as well as prayer from friends, for getting her back on her feet and in the saddle.
“It was the toughest year to qualify I’ve ever had,” she said. “I would like to thank my rodeo family for encouraging me when I didn’t feel well or couldn’t ride a horse very well.
“I’m so lucky to have a passion for what I do – horseback riding and dance.”
