MV-Enola girls romp past Guy-Perkins for third place

GREERS FERRY — Mount Vernon-Enola's girls took third place in the Class A Region 3 tournament here Monday with a 68-40 victory over Guy-Perkins at West Side High School.

The Lady Warhawks (31-3) broke a 32-32 tie early in the third quarter with a 24-4 run.

MV-Enola will play at 1 p.m. Thursday in the first round of the Class A state tournament at Bradley. Guy-Perkins will play at 1 p.m Tuesday.

Trojans slip past UCA in OT

LITTLE ROCK – Little Rock’s Jaclyn Purvine scored a golden goal in the 95th minute, dribbling through the UCA midfield and sliding the ball into the top-right corner, just past the outstretched fingers of a diving Lauren Mercuri to give the Trojans a 2-1 overtime victory Friday night in the soccer opener for the University of Central Arkansas women.
