LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — The Arkansas Senate is to consider a bill to ban most abortions if a fetal heartbeat is detected, a move that would prohibit the procedure as early as six weeks into a pregnancy.
The Senate on Thursday is scheduled to consider the bill that would require a test for a fetal heartbeat before an abortion in the state. If a heartbeat is detected, an abortion could not be performed.
The measure includes exemptions for rape, incest and to save the life of the mother. It has the backing of 19 of the Senate's 35 members.
Also on Thursday the House Public Health, Welfare and Labor Committee plans to consider a separate bill that would ban abortions at 20 weeks. That proposal does not include exemptions for rape and incest.

Its disturbing to me that a bunch of (mainly) male politians dictating what women can do with their bodies! This is going to promote the back-alley abortions with clothes hangers from the 60's! I don't like abortions but sometimes its the only choice a woman has! I know women that hv hd them & its a very difficult choice for most. And how many of these politicans will offer to adopt the baby and care for & support it for life? None, most likely! Here comes another expansion of Medicaid! Something else for the middle class, working folks to pay for!!
well

Abortion...it saves money.
Sounds good to me, I'm already born.
Obviously
We need to continue to make our schools teach abstinence only sex education. We also need to further grant employers more power to decide if they allow employees access to birth control and other contraception. If we do that, surely the need for abortions will decline.

abortion
Reducing the deficit one child at a time.
As a fiscal conservative, I like the cost savings.
Only the wanted children get to live. How tolerant that is.
Doctor's Testimony
The doctor testifying about this right now says that pain is caused during a Cesarean section, and that epidurals only benefit the mother during a Cesarean section. Are we going to make that procedure illegal too?

How many government programs actually work? People need to make our own decisions - not the politicans! Look at post office, Medicare & healthcare! Once the government gets involved, it gets all screwed up. Since Obamacare, my health insurance premuim has doubled & the benefits hv been cut & now Medicaid is being expanded (more tax increases coming)! I call it the "unaffordable health care act". Once again, the middle class will pay for it. Stop this madness & let's keep the government out of our personal choices!
You make a decision when you
You make a decision when you decide to have sex and get knocked up. Why punish a living person for someone else's indiscretion? What gives anyone that right?
So my question is, at what point is it ok to kill? I bet there are 20 sets parents right now who would love to have a chance at loving a child you could care less for.
Womens's rights?!?!? BFS!!!!
Its a lack of you owning up to your responsibilities and not wanting the "inconvenience" of you cramping your party life, and most of all the lack of respect for a human's rights.
You should take advice from your screen name.
LOL
"Womens's rights?!?!? BFS!!!!"
Says a man.
well
I've yet to hear the validation for aborting a female fetus.
The first woman President might have been aborted in the past 40 years, or the woman that develops a cure for breast cancer...all in the name of women's rights.
And I say this as a man that will vote for Hillary in 2016 if she is on the ticket.
