Hall sweeps two games from Wampus Cats

Posted: January 8, 2013 - 11:21pm

Led by Tyler Scaife and Bobby Portis, Little Rock Hall swept a 7A/6A Central doubleheader over Conway teams Tuesday night at Buzz Bolding Arena.

Scaife scored 12 of her 26 points in the fourth quarter to help the Hall girls hold off Conway, 62-52.

Portis, 6-foot-9 and a University of Arkansas recruit, scored 22 points as the Warriors powered to a 17-1 first-quarter lead in totally dominating the Wampus Cats, 68-34.

In the girls game, Hall led 27-15 at the half and stretched that advantage to 18 in the third quarter. Conway, with some hot shooting by Jordan Danberry in the fourth quarter, got within eight but no closer.

Danberry led the Lady Cats with 25 points Asia Willard and Enjonae Chambers added eight each.

Hall's Javan Perry scored 11 of his 16 points in the first quarter as the Warriors turned the boys contest ugly for Conway in a hurry. The Warriors led 35-17 at the half, invoked the mercy rule early in the fourth quarter and led 68-28 at the greatest juncture.

Dominic Taylor led the Wampus Cats with 10 points and Tim Boyd added nine.

As good as Portis is ...

... and he probably has the greater up side for college, Perry may be the better high school player. Good shooter, defender, and ball handler.

It's hard to imagine NLR is better than Hall, but many think they are.

Perry indeed has a lot of

Perry indeed has a lot of skills. Portis is really a raw talent. He needs to put on more weight and muscle. IMO, he needs a redshirt year in college.
