VENUS

Hi everyone…My name is Venus. I’m a 2 year old spayed female Chihuahua mix, and I weigh 9 whole lbs. I was so scared and nervous when I first got brought into the shelter, I wouldn’t let anyone touch me…then I realized these nice people were just trying to help me, so I’ve warmed up a lot! I like to be held close, so if you’re looking for a cuddle buddy, here I am! And luckily for me, I’m small enough to carry around with you wherever you go, so we can spend lots of time together! (I don’t like being alone too much.) And since I’m kind of a nervous girl, I think I’d feel more comfortable in a calm home with adults only. I’ve already been to the V-E-T, so I’m ready for my new home now!
Adopting a dog from the Conway Animal Welfare Unit is a fairly easy process. The first step to adopting an animal is submitting an application. The application allows us to individually consider applicants and helps us to properly match our pets with new owners. We want to make sure that our pets are going to homes that are ready to provide for these pets long-term. Adoptions are $50 and this includes vaccinations, heartworm test, spay/neuter and microchip. As with any shelter animal, health is not guaranteed but we do our best to screen out those animals that are showing obvious signs of illness or disclose that information prior to adoption. All dogs are heartworm tested upon adoption. If you are interested in adopting a dog and you reside OUTSIDE the city limits of Conway and the dog is less than 12 wks old, the cost is $75 which includes a spay/neuter and micropchip. The spay and neuter can only be performed at Vilonia Vet Clinic or Companion Animal Spay/Neuter Clinic. If the animal is less that 12 wks and you live inside the city limits the adoption fee is $25 dollars and you receive a voucher for $120 to use at select clinics for spay/neuter. The other option is that you provide us with proof of a pre-paid spay or neuter at YOUR vet of choice. That is the only option for those who are out of state or out of area. Paws in Prison dogs are approved by CARE for Animals and fees are set by CARE for Animals. Information about these animals can be found at www.careforanimals.org.

CHEWY

Hey guys! The name’s Chewy. I’m a neutered male Lab/Hound mix, about 6 months old and I weigh in at 38 lbs. I’ve been told I’m gonna be big and strong when I’m older, and I can’t wait! I’m a super friendly dude, make friends with everyone I meet, and I love to romp around and play with other dogs! I was surrendered by my owners who didn’t want me…I’m pretty sure I didn’t do anything wrong…I just want some love! I like to sniff around and play outside, so hopefully I’ll get to go home with someone that has a nice big yard I can explore! I’ve already seen that vet guy, so I’m ready to get outta this place!!

MIA

Hello…My name is Mia. I’m a spayed female Chihuahua mix, about 3 years old and I weigh a little more than I probably should at 11 lbs. But hey, there’s nothing wrong with being a little fluffy, right? And if you can’t tell by my face, I’m a very sweet and gentle lady…and when you reach down to pet me, I’ll flop over and show you my belly! Hopefully you’ll catch the hint and give it a rub or two…or three…I’m very calm and quiet, and I like to keep my kennel nice and clean, so they’re guessing I’m housebroken…I thought it was quite obvious, really. If you’re looking for a chill friend to relax on the couch with or bask in the sun, I’m your gal! The nice people here at the shelter are taking applications on me now, and I’ll be ready for adoption on Wednesday, May 31.

SASSY

Oh hey there! I’m Sassy! I really am…and ironically, that’s my name too! I’m a spunky little Schnauzer mix, maybe a dash of Maltese…who knows…I’m 3 years old & as much as ladies hate to tell their weight, I’ll let you know I’m about 16 lbs. I’m super friendly & I love to play! I was surrendered by my owner who no longer had time for me…so I’m on the lookout for someone who wants to spend time with me…and give me treats! They say I’m “energetic,” I say I’m just excited about life, so we’ll need to get out and explore the outdoors too ok? I’ve already been spayed and fully vaccinated…so what are you waiting for?!

MAGGIE

Hi friends! My name is Maggie, although I was hoping they’d name me Honey… I mean just LOOK at my beautiful, shiny coat! I’m a Lab mix, I weigh 20 lbs, for now, and I’m only about 4 months old. I’m a super sweet girl and I love everyone I meet! My favorite things to do outside are chase butterflies and roll around in the grass…and my favorite things to do inside include playing with cool toys and then curling up on the couch for a good movie. I will be seeing the vet on May 24th and that will complete my stay here…I’m ready for a place to call my own!
