The Newspapers In Education Program ...
We Deliver The World!

Welcome To the Newspapers In Education Program (NIE).

Educators across the country utilize newspapers in their classrooms to reinforce daily lessons in virtually every subject for every grade level! These "living textbooks" offer students an interesting and up-to-date approach to learning.

The Log Cabin Democrat is proud to support our educators and parents as they prepare tomorrow's future.

The Newspapers In Education Program is an international program that promotes the use of newspapers as a progressive, instructional tools in the classroom. NIE programs around the world are dedicated to building literacy by providing educational materials and newspapers to schools, colleges, adult literacy programs, youth detention centers and other non-school-based education programs. Currently, more than 700 newspapers across North America have an NIE program.

The Log Cabin Democrat remains committed to improving educational standards by providing educators and students with a fun, interactive, academic program designed to enhance the learning environment at any grade level.

During the 2001-2002 school year, through the generous donations of local businesses, The Log Cabin Democrat was able to provide 107,516 newspapers to 26 public and 2 private schools. Each year, more educators become participants in the NIE program, but resources are limited. Since school budget constraints limit local educators, many teachers depend on sponsorships from the business community for assistance.
