Arkansas State University names new chancellor

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Arkansas State University has named an official at the University of Oklahoma as the institution's new chancellor.

The Jonesboro school announced Wednesday that Dr. Kelly Damphousse, who has served as the dean at the University of Oklahoma's College of Arts and Sciences since 2013, will be the new chancellor.

Damphousse is set to replace interim chancellor Dr. Doug Whitlock on July 1.

The school says a search committee voted unanimously on Friday to recommend that Damphousse be hired. Damphousse's annual salary is set to be $360,000.
